Each Ansah Co. basket is handwoven with Kinkahe straw (also known as Elephant Grass) by talented weavers in Bolgatanga, a northern region of Ghana. Made using techniques that have been perfected over generations, our baskets are durable and flexible; each handle is covered with goatskin leather to make it stronger and more comfortable to carry.

Apart from the leather handle, our baskets are 100% biodegradable as well as ethically sourced and made. Ansah Co. strongly believes in a system where all are paid fairly; we work directly with artisans in Bolgatanga to ensure they receive a fair and living wage.

This basket arrives folded from shipping, but don’t worry - it can quickly be reshaped using water and your bare hands. Detailed instructions on how to reshape your Ansah Co. basket will be included with your order.

Care tips:

• Very easy to clean, stains can be removed with a simple wipe with a wet cloth.
• Do not leave out in the sun for long periods as the colors in your basket could fade.
• If your basket loses its shape, re-form it using the instructions included with your order.
• You may come across exposed ends on your basket, this is completely normal, simply trim them with a pair of scissors.
• Once shaped, store your basket in a dry area.
• This basket is made of grass and can be flammable, do not leave near exposed flame or heat sources.
